Drew Thorpe Set for MLB Debut

White Sox Prospect to Take the Mound

Chicago White Sox prospect Drew Thorpe is set to make his Major League Baseball debut on Tuesday, according to an official announcement made by the team today.

Thorpe, who was acquired by the White Sox from the New York Yankees in the Dylan Cease trade, has been tearing it up in the minor leagues this season. In 12 starts for Double-A Birmingham, he has a 3.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and 74 strikeouts in 60 innings pitched. He has also been named the Southern League Pitcher of the Week twice this season.

The 24-year-old right-hander is considered to be one of the top pitching prospects in the White Sox organization. He has a fastball that can reach up to 97 mph, as well as a sharp curveball and a developing changeup. He is also known for his excellent command and control.

Thorpe's debut is a much-needed boost for the White Sox, who have been struggling with injuries to their starting rotation. With Lucas Giolito, Lance Lynn, and Michael Kopech all on the injured list, Thorpe will be counted on to provide some stability to the rotation. The White Sox are hoping that Thorpe can make a similar impact to the one that Dylan Cease made when he debuted in 2019. Cease, who was also acquired by the White Sox in a trade, has blossomed into one of the best young pitchers in baseball. He is currently 5-2 with a 3.00 ERA in 12 starts this season.
